Alex goes out landscape painting 4 or 5 times a week, this is always around the local area and people always comment to me that “I saw your dad out painting the other day”. This is such a common thing for Alex you will always see a bucket of paints and a hand full of whitewashed boards in his van allowing him to stop any time if he sees something that catches his eye.
Alex paints with his heart and he paints how something feels to him not how it looks. If we think about it we go through life with a series of feelings, even when you are in a magic place it’s how it makes you feel is the overriding emotion. That said there are always other factors in our life that contribute to our emotions so it is not uncommon to see radically different styles in Alex’s work especially his landscapes.

This defines exactly what I was saying about having paints ready to capture a moment when you see it.
This is not the sort of weather that Alex would go out painting in, not because he minds the Scottish weather but because you never know how long you will get painting before you have to stop when everything gets wet and unusable.
But this is just the sort of scene that we all have seen when out walking the dog or driving home from work and you need to stop a moment and take in the feeling of the overwhelming power and size of nature.
