Julia

JuliaSize : 8ft X 3ft
Medium : Oil on Marine Plywood

Julia was a work colleague at the school Alex taught art in. He had not spoken to her much and this might have been because she was always very glamorous with a new dress on every day that seemed to never be used again. Alex is the opposite of that, cutting his own hair, buying second hand clothes.
One day Alex got speaking to Julia in the staffroom and he was amazed to hear her life story.

She is truly an amazing person having a difficult upbringing and having to deal with some very challenging times in her life. She speaks multiple languages and is a very elegant, interesting, and glamorous woman. Like all Alex’s portraits, he has to like and be enthralled by the person’s stories so one day in the car park Alex asked Julia if she wouldn’t mind standing until he sketched out a drawing of her. This was then formed into a life size oil painting portrait that you see her.
